Terms of Service

01Service description

NotaryLOU provides mobile notary services within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A commissioned notary public travels to your specified location to perform notarial acts — including jurats, acknowledgements, oaths, and related services — in accordance with Kentucky Revised Statutes.

02Pricing & payment

Standard notarial acts are $10 each; specialty documents (power of attorney and living will / advance directive) are $35 each. Travel is charged at $0.76 per mile, round-trip, with a $5 minimum mileage charge. Optional add-ons include $35 per witness provided by us, a $35 weekend surcharge, a $50 rush (within one hour) surcharge, and a facility fee of $75 for hospital or nursing home visits and $100 for jail or detention-center visits. Payment is collected on-site after notarization via cash, card, or digital wallet. The estimate provided at booking is based on the information you provide; the final total is confirmed upon completion of the act and verification of actual mileage and act count.

03Scheduling & confirmation

Booking requests are submitted through our website and are not confirmed until acknowledged by a notary. Same-day and rush appointments are subject to availability and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to decline or reschedule appointments due to weather, safety, or scheduling conflicts.

04Signer requirements

All signers must be physically present at the time of notarization with valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification. The notary must be able to verify the signer's identity and willingness to sign. Signers must be of sound mind and acting of their own free will. The notary may refuse service if these conditions are not met.

05What a notary cannot do

A notary public is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice, draft legal documents, or interpret the contents of your documents. A notary cannot advise on whether a document is correct, complete, or legally sufficient. Notarization authenticates the identity of the signer and the act of signing — it does not guarantee the legality or enforceability of the document itself.

06Cancellation

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. Appointments cancelled with less than two hours' notice may be subject to a travel fee equal to the round-trip mileage charge, as the notary will have already dispatched to your location.

07Limitation of liability

NotaryLOU's liability is limited to the fees charged for the notarial act performed. We are not liable for the contents, legality, or effectiveness of any document notarized. Our E&O insurance covers procedural errors in the notarial act itself, not the substance of the documents signed.

08Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Notarial acts performed by NotaryLOU are valid only within Kentucky and subject to Kentucky notary statutes, including KRS 64.300 regarding the military notary fee exemption.
